Matt Bewley is a servant leader who has spent his career investing in the people and place he calls home. From leading the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, to co-founding Project Community, and serving University of the Ozarks students as Director of Career Services, Matt knows Clarksville and has a vision for what it can become.
About Matt Bewley
In 2018, Matt Bewley and his family moved to Clarksville and quickly fell in love with the community and started looking for ways to get involved. The common thread through his various roles with the Chamber of Commerce, the University of the Ozarks, and Project Community is serving others. That dedication was recognized in 2023 when he was named Johnson County Volunteer of the Year, an award that reflects not just his time, but his heart for this community.
Matt is running for Mayor because he knows Clarksville is a special place with a lot of potential. He wants a government that communicates clearly with its residents, removes barriers for local businesses, and invests in the growth and success of its people. He's not a career politician — he's a neighbor who loves this community and is ready to serve it.
The Issues That Matter

Affordable Housing
As new businesses like the data center bring growth to Clarksville, housing prices are rising and affordable options are shrinking. As Mayor, Matt will work alongside planning and zoning to review city codes and remove outdated barriers that stand between contractors and families looking for a new home.

Economic Development
Economic development isn't just about attracting new businesses — it's about making sure the ones already here can thrive. As Mayor, Matt will make it a priority to sit down with local business owners, understand their challenges, and remove every hurdle he can.

Transparency & Communication
Good government starts with open communication. As Mayor, Matt will make it a point to speak regularly with The Graphic, maintain active social media updates, stream city council meetings, and meet consistently with business owners, nonprofit leaders, and residents.

Community & Quality of Life
A thriving community is one of the most powerful tools a city has for attracting new businesses and keeping residents happy. Matt will work to expand entertainment and recreation options for Clarksville families. That means using the Levee Stage to bring more events and live music to downtown Clarksville, investing in the continued growth of our existing parks, and expanding the bike trail system.

Education
As Mayor, Matt will work to create clear educational pathways that connect Clarksville's citizens, both young and old, to the skills and careers that local industries need. Through partnerships with the University of the Ozarks, local school districts, and employers, Matt will help build a workforce pipeline that keeps talented young people in Johnson County and gives every resident the opportunity for higher wage employment and a better quality of life.

Johnson County is made up of hardworking families with rich traditions and deep roots, some going back generations, others just getting started. Each one of them has contributed something meaningful to this community, and that is something worth celebrating. Matt believes that a stronger Clarksville is one where every person, and every cultural background has a real seat at the table. As Mayor, Matt will work to make sure the doors of opportunity are open to everyone who calls Clarksville home.
Meet Matt Bewley
Behind the resume and the platform is a husband, a dad, and a neighbor who simply loves where he lives. Matt and his wife Kerry are raising their two boys Liam, 12, and Rylan, 8, right here in Clarksville. Their kids are in the Clarksville School District, and like most families in Johnson County, the Bewley's are deeply invested in seeing this community grow into everything it can be.
His calling to serve people is revealed in every volunteer role he takes on—whether that's co-founding Project Community, serving on multiple local boards, or simply showing up for his neighbors. His professional experience in ministry, economic development, and career services has equipped him with valuable leadership skills and certifications while giving him a firsthand understanding of the needs of our community. Along the way, he has built strong partnerships across business, education, nonprofit, and civic sectors that will help him lead effectively as Mayor.
When he's not working or serving, you'll find Matt with a guitar in his hands, a fishing line in the water, or hiking the trails of Johnson County with his family in search of the next waterfall. On any given evening, there's a good chance the whole Bewley family is enjoying live music at the Levee Stage or taking in an amazing performance from the University of the Ozarks or the Clarksville Panthers music and theater programs.
